There is an Zen expression saying that the action of devoting oneself and the process itself is exalted, rather than pursuing the results in the end. As the vice-chief priest of Zenkyo-an said, this view of putting emphasis on processes- even it it apparently looks awkward or useless-, in stead of on finding efficient shortcuts, is something what Zen temple and art shares - against the current tendency of merit and efficiency-based system. In the place of Zen temple, where is to face the time of this very minute as well as the spirit of oneself, it should be very meaningful to present art works, which are certainly a comprehensive production, the consequence of artists' concentration, particularly in the time of today. In this exhibition, various types of works of FOIL related 12 artists, including Yoshitomo Nara's ceramic works, Rinko Kawauchi's installation, will on view exclusively in the 5 days at Zenkyo-an.
