Edited by IANN BOOKS, Seoul and co-published with FOIL, Tokyo, IANN
is a contemporary art photography magazine dispatched from asia.
To cerebrate its 2nd Anniversary, this special issue "Nameless
City" explores the new approach to the city, the most familiar
subject yet containing blind spots for contemporary livers. Chikashi
Suzuki's (Japan) delicate and fine portrait of the cityscapes, Olivo
Barbieri's (Italy) always innovative approach and technique of shooting
landscapes, Paul Graham's (U.K.) series of photographs shot like
a fixed point observation of inhabitants in a suburbia of America
- 9 artists contributed for this volume present the variety of ideas
on city and its everyday lives from each different aspect. By integrating
fragments of anonymous cities, the volume of photographs highlights
image, forms or perhaps memory of what we call "city"
in stead of realistically mirroring the actual figures of city itself.

The contemporary art photography magazine IANN,
edited in Korea by IANN books and co-published also in Japan by
FOIL, is pleased to announce its third volume. In this issue, we
focus on a new-generational perspective towards photography under
the theme of "Beyond the Silent Paper". Starting from
the most edgy and notable young photographer in Japan, Masayuki
Shioda, Taisuke Koyama's the senses-stimulating photographs, the
world-widely known works of Thomas Demand, which photographed life-size
paper-made model of from an ordinary home to the Oval office to
Walead Beshty's enthusiastic works to challenge the widely recognized
concept "the photographs captures truth and reality",
this issue explore the possibility of the photography as "one
material", rather than merely an apparatus.
