Shintsubo has been active in various fields of media including a number
of magazines. This book shows portraits of four young idols in Japan
dressed in different school uniforms. In Japan, school uniform is
often seen as a symbol of innocence. The photographs of those girls
remind us the preciousness of such innocence in the teens.
The photographs present some stories in the scenes of four seasons.
Through the works, we can feel his fine vision of the world. "Kioku"
evokes faint memories of the past in everyone with nostalgia.
The photographer Kenshu Shintsubo captured ephemeral beauty of teenage
girls at transiently changing seasons. Erika Toda, Yu Kashii, hanae*
and Aoi Miyazaki, four of the most famous young idols, present their
stories in the scenes of four seasons.
Kenshu Shintsubo profile
Born in Tokyo in 1968. After producing works by images and installations,
he started his career as a photographer in 1995. He has been active
in various fields of media including a number of magazines such as
"Casa BRUTUS", "rockinユon JAPAN", "H",
"Ryuko-Tsushin", "SPUR" and "Purple Magazine".
He has made solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Nagoya and Paris.
